The following extracurricular activities are integrated with our standard classroom curriculum.  Click here for more information about our standard classroom curriculum.

Physical Education and Sports

Kindergarten - Grade 5 have P.E. two times a week for 40 minutes.  Age appropriate games, skills, and activities are planned by the P.E. teacher.

Grades 6 - 8 have P.E. 40 minutes each day.  Emphasis is on rules and skills of volleyball, flag football, soccer, basketball, track, baseball, and softball.  Students may participate in team sports competing against other middle schools on Friday afternoons.

 

Music

Kindergarten - Grade 2 have choral music instruction twice a week for 25 minutes.

Grade 3 meets with the music teacher twice a week for 45 minutes for choral music, and students learn to play the recorder second semester.

Grades 4 - 5 have choral instruction every other week for 45 minutes.  Participation in band is optional.

Grades 6 - 8 can participate in band or choir as an elective.

All grade levels perform at the Christmas and spring show in choral and/or band selections.  Participation in the spring talent show is optional.

Art

Kindergarten - Grade 3 may meet with the art teacher at lunch time.

Grades 4 - 5 have classroom art instruction 45 minutes every other week.

Grades 6 - 8 may choose art as an elective.

Emphasis is on basic drawing techniques, color, textures, and usage of various mediums.  Students' art is displayed in the Chapel.

Spanish

Emphasis is placed on speaking, writing, reading, and singing in Spanish.

Kindergarten - Grade 3 have Spanish instruction twice a week for 25 minutes.

Grades 4 - 5 receive Spanish instruction twice a week for 40 minutes.

Grades 6 - 8 may choose Spanish as an elective

Computer Lab

Students in Grades Kindergarten - 8 go to the computer lab for keyboard instruction, classroom curriculum reinforcement, and to learn the functions of the computer.  Students may access information, type reports, and create stories and newsletters.

Community
Involvement

  • Collect food during Thanksgiving week

  • Collect toys for children for St. Nicholas Day

  • Assemble love baskets for needy families

  • Assemble Christmas stockings for "Cancer Kids"

  • Fund raising for food supplement for cancer patients

  • Collecting books for the Battered Women's shelter
